Tower of the Nine Powers

Tower of the Nine Powers
Hidden upon a distant island in the southeastern ocean, far beyond the reach of Cronan and his Watchers, stands the Tower of the Nine Powers. It is the last known refuge of the sorcerers of Ambrose and a remnant of an age when magic was openly practiced and those who wielded it were respected rather than hunted.
The tower takes its name from the nine schools of magic, each represented by its own ancient symbol: Fire, the flame; Water, the teardrop; Earth, the cracked stone; Air, three flowing lines; Light, the sun; Darkness, the moon; Mind, the head; Body, the hand upon the chest; and Spirit, the magical eye held within two hands.
There was a time when the Tower was home to many sorcerers. Its members once played a vital role in the struggle against the Endless, helping bring down Cairn Mountain upon the ancient Shrine of the Endless. But when Cronan rose to power and magic was outlawed, the sorcerers were scattered. Those who remained retreated into secrecy, and the Tower's numbers dwindled to fewer than twenty.
Cronan does not actively hunt the sorcerers of the Tower, largely because their island lies beyond his immediate reach. Yet any mage discovered within his kingdom faces a terrible fate. Captured sorcerers are taken to Korinth and forced into the Arena, where they may be commanded to fight one of the Watchers.
Today, few know who lives within it. The remaining sorcerers guard their secrets carefully, knowing that revealing themselves could bring unwanted attention from Cronan and his servants.
The Tower of the Nine Powers may be the last sanctuary of magic in Ambrose—but its greatest secrets may only now be beginning to awaken.
